Mariana Greif is a documentary photographer, storyteller, and video maker based between São Paulo, Brazil, and Montevideo, Uruguay. Her work delves into themes of migration, gender, women's resilience, housing, relationship to territory, and the environment.
Mariana holds a Photography and Digital Imaging degree from Ringling College of Art and Design, supported by the Davies Foundation scholarship, and a Photojournalism and Documentary Photography degree from the International Center of Photography in New York, awarded through the Wall Street Journal Scholarship. Additionally, she is a graduate of the Fundación Pedro Meyer program on storytelling and new media, thanks to a World Press Photo scholarship.
Her work has been widely published in renowned outlets such as The New York Times, The Guardian, The Washington Post, Gatopardo, Libération, The New York Review of Books, DW, France24, CNN, Newsweek, La Diaria, La Lento, Sumaúma, and Reporter Brasil.
Mariana was awarded the ECOS 23 grant by VIST to work on a collective project in Altamira, Pará, alongside Pablo Albarenga and Soll Souza.
She has exhibited her work at the Centro Cultural de España (CCE) in Bolivia and Mexico, at the Centro de Fotografía de Montevideo (CdF) in Uruguay, at the Museo de la Memoria in Uruguay, at the Fotowien in Vienna, Austria, and in Texas, USA, in the exhibition "From SA to SA: An Exhibition of Pan-American Documentary Photography."
As a freelance photographer and videomaker, Mariana works with both international and local outlets, available for national and international assignments. She is an International Women Media Foundation fellow and a member of the photo collectives Women Photograph and Diversify Photo.
Mariana's work has been recognized for its deep engagement with social issues, earning her a respected place in the field of visual storytelling.
